President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence in the City Boy Movement, describing it as a growing force that will play a significant role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Speaking on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of the movement on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja, Akpabio commended the group’s commitment to mobilising support for the President and promoting youth participation in the democratic process.
“The City Boy Movement is like a wind blowing across the nation. You may not see it, but you can feel it. Every political party in Nigeria is already feeling the impact of the City Boy Movement,” he said.
The Senate President urged members of the group to remain committed to voter mobilisation and public enlightenment ahead of the 2027 general election.
“I want you to have it in mind that you have come up at the right time and I know that you are all poised to ensure maximum victory come 2027,” Akpabio stated.
He also encouraged the youths to see their involvement in the movement as an opportunity to contribute to nation-building and develop leadership skills.
“This is now your turn to shape your future. This is your turn to take the lead on how Nigeria should go,” he added.
Earlier, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the National Assembly and the movement.
According to him, the group is seeking continued guidance and support as it expands its programmes across the country, deepens civic engagement among young Nigerians and contributes meaningfully to national development.
