Senator Gobir applauds President Buhari, Security Agencies

The Senator Representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Gobir (APC- Sokoto), has commended President Muhammad Buhari and security agencies towards their contribution to the reduction of security challenges across the country.

Senator Gobir who is the Chairman Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, made the commendation while briefing Journalists at his residence in Sokoto State. According to him, a strategic method employ by the securities personnel and with the support of President Buhari banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminalities has reduced tremendously.

He added that some parts of the country had witnessed more peace and security and even returns to their normal activities. Senator Gobir, urged security agencies in the country to rededicate themselves in ensuring lasting peace and security in the country.

On the issue of Political zoning, Gobir restated that zoning of Political positions in Nigeria remained a fundamental right of citizens to address sectional democracy in the country. According to the lawmakers, whoever is saying zoning is not an option, he is saying that there is no need to locate other people who have the interest to contest and participate in democracy.

“I am of the opinion that we have to locate other areas at the National level not to talk of the States or local governments level. We are fighting for one Nigeria and the same goal, therefore we cannot give more priority to a section or sections and deprived others of their rights

“To be precise, there is a need to share every right equally including political positions, as such for me zoning is a fundamental right to Nigerians,”  Senator Gobir said.

On the forthcoming, All Progressive Congress (APC) Ward Congresses, Gobir, said that the Sokoto State Chapter of the party is fully ready to ensure fairness and justice is done at the exercise.

“We are trying to see how consensus will reveal the leaders of the party, but in areas where the consensus does not work, we will ensure free and fair election to determine the leaders.”

The Senator urged members of the party in the state to continue to remain committed and assist the party to clinch governorship tickets in the coming forthcoming 2023 general elections.
