The All Progressives Congress in Sokoto State has conducted a successful affirmation exercises for aspirants in 10 out of the 11 House of Representatives constituencies at the party’s primary election.
Addressing journalists in Sokoto, the state APC Chairman, Haruna Adiya, said only Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency would witness a competitive primary election between two party aspirants, while the remaining constituencies adopted the affirmation system.
According to him, the party ensured equal opportunity for all members interested in contesting elective positions.
“As you are aware, we have 11 constituencies in Sokoto State and in 10 of them we have been able to secure the process of affirmation, while one will have an election between two party members,” he said.
Haruna Adiya added that the party had put all necessary arrangements in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free exercise across the state.
He also disclosed that adequate security measures had been provided, especially in areas facing security challenges in the eastern part of the state.

Speaking after his affirmation in the Sokoto North/Sokoto South Federal Constituency, the member representing the constituency, Alhaji Bala Hassan, appreciated party members for reposing confidence in him.
Hassan pledged to continue executing developmental projects for the benefit of the constituency.
He also commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu and Senator Aliyu Wamakko for their guidance and support throughout his service to the people.
Also speaking, the chairman of the screening/affirmation committee deployed to supervise the primary in the area and the Commissioner for Health, Dr Faruk Wurno, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of delegates.
He said the affirmation followed due process, noting that Bala Hassan was the sole aspirant who purchased and submitted both the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms and was subsequently screened and cleared by the party.
“I hereby affirm the nomination of Bala Hassan for the Sokoto North/South Federal Constituency for the 2027 general elections,” he declared.
Faruk Wurno praised the peaceful conduct of party members during the process and expressed confidence that the wishes of the people would prevail.
