Sokoto Market Fire: Youths Coalition sympathises with Traders

The Coalition of Youths in Nigeria has sympathised with the traders of the Sokoto central market fire disaster that razed about sixty percent of the Market shops on Tuesday 19 January 2021.

Sympathizing with the Management of the Market and leaders of the market’s Traders Association, the delegation of the Youths Coalition led by its National President, Comrade Aminu Aminu, said they were in Sokoto to sympathise with the victims who find themselves in a very critical condition especially at trying time of dwindling economy in the country.

Comrade Aminu who described the disaster as unfortunate prayed to God to replace the loss with other means.

We the Coalitions of Youth know the condition the traders are facing and our association is concerned with your situation, especially its aware youth occupies about 50% of business in the market,” the National President said.

The National President on their Association capacity promised to mobilize government, NGOs and other meaningful wealthy individuals to intervene and reduce the suffering faced by the traders.

He explained that the association was extremely concerned about the plight of the victims and described Sokoto people as very industrious.

The Coalitions will analyse the situation and mobilize for necessary support from government and other meaningful stakeholders to reduce the suffering among the victims of the inferno,” he added.

The Director-General of the Market, Maikuddi Dogondaji, who was represented by the Director Administration in the Market, Hassan Aliyu, commended the Coalitions for the sympathies visit.

He assured them that the door of the Market is open to partners with the Coalitions to assist the victims of the fire disaster.

This historic and invaluable visit has shown the level of concern the Coalitions has for the people of Sokoto State,” the Director stated.

Hassan said the Coalitions pledges were heard and the Management looks forward to strengthening partnership with them for the overall benefits of the traders and the market as a whole.

The Delegation of the Youth Coalition includes: the North-West Zonal Coordinator, Yusuf Abubakar, the State Coordinators of Jigawa, Nabila Ahmad, Kebbi, Abubakar Sai’d and Sokoto Dahiru
