Sokoto Sets December 25 Deadline for 2026 Hajj Payments

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has set 25 December as the deadline for the payment of 2026 Hajj fares for prospective pilgrims in the state.

The Chairman of the Agency, Aliyu Musa, stated this during a meeting with Hajj Registration Officers from the 23 Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.

He said the deadline aligns with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON)’s stipulated deadline of 29 December 2025 for the completion of Hajj fare payments across the country.

Musa appealed to intending pilgrims from the state to ensure the timely payment of their Hajj fares to facilitate a smooth process and proper arrangements for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

“We urge all intending pilgrims to make their payments before the deadline to ensure seamless coordination and avoid last-minute rush,” the Chairman said.

He emphasised the importance of adhering to the payment schedule to enable the agency to meet NAHCON’s requirements and ensure the successful participation of Sokoto State pilgrims in the upcoming Hajj.

“Adherence to the schedule will help us plan effectively and guarantee a hitch-free pilgrimage for all,” Musa explained.

The Chairman also cautioned Hajj Registration Officers against registering individuals of questionable character and those from neighbouring countries who are not citizens of Nigeria.

“We must be diligent in screening applicants to ensure that only eligible Nigerian citizens are registered,” he warned.

Musa reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring a successful 2026 Hajj exercise in accordance with established guidelines.

“Our focus remains to serve Sokoto pilgrims with transparency, integrity and full compliance with NAHCON’s directives,” the Chairman added.
