The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it is currently rehabilitating four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line in Rivers State.
The affected towers, T50 to T53, were discovered vandalised on August 6, 2026, by TCN lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
In a statement by TCN’s Public Affairs Manager, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed that the tower members had been removed and carted away by vandals.

She said that the incident represented the fifth vandalism attack on the same transmission line in recent times.
Mbah explained that rehabilitation work was ongoing to restore the affected infrastructure and maintain the reliability of electricity transmission in the area.
She called on stakeholders and members of the public to join hands with TCN in curbing infrastructure vandalism, which she noted threatened the stability of the national grid.
