The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored the Benin–Egbin 330kV transmission line following a power disruption that affected the Lagos electricity network, while engineers continue work to restore the Benin–Omotoso 330kV transmission line.
TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, in a statement, said the incident occurred at about 8:19 a.m. on Thursday, when voltage instability on the national grid spread across the Lagos corridor, leading to the shutdown of some generating stations, transmission line outages and power interruption in Lagos State and it’s surroundings.
She said the National Control Centre immediately directed some power generation companies to reduce electricity output to stabilise the grid and prevent further disruption.

According to her, the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, convened an emergency meeting with the management of TCN and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) to coordinate restoration efforts.
She confirmed that the Benin Egbin 330kV transmission line has been restored and is now transmitting bulk electricity, while a joint team of engineers from the Benin and Omotoso sub-regions is working to clear faults on the Benin–Omotoso 330kV line to achieve full restoration of power supply to the Lagos complex.
She apologised to residents, businesses and electricity consumers affected by the outage, assuring them that every effort is being made to restore normal bulk power transmission as quickly as possible.
The General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Mbah, said the Ministry of Power and all relevant agencies remain committed to strengthening the national grid to minimise future occurrences and appealed to consumers for patience as restoration work continues.
