TRANSFER WINDOW OPEN: 20 PLAYERS WHO COULD MOVE THIS SUMMER

The transfer window is open and there are A-list players in demand and whose futures are uncertain.

We take a look at some of the big names who will be the centre of attention during the next month or so…

PSG COMPLETE WIJNALDUM DEAL

Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum will join Paris Saint-Germain from Liverpool on a three-year deal, the French Ligue 1 side announced on Thursday.

The 30-year-old Wijnaldum made 237 appearances and scored 22 goals for Liverpool in all competitions, lifting the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup titles with them.

“Signing for PSG is a new challenge for me,” Wijnaldum told the club’s website. “I’m joining one of the best squads in Europe and I want to bring all my desire and commitment to this ambitious project.”

“PSG have proved how good they are in recent years and I’m convinced that together, with our supporters, we can go even further and higher.”

ASHLEY YOUNG OFFERED NEW INTER DEAL

Ashley Young has been offered a NEW one-year contract by Inter Milan.

Young’s current deal runs out at the end of the month and he has already rejected one offer from Inter.

This new deal has come since Simone Inzaghi replaced Antonio Conte at the San Siro.

Young is undecided about his future and is weighing up his options.

One of those options is a return to Watford with talks continuing over a one-year deal.

Young’s representatives have also been approached by other Premier League clubs.

MAN UTD REMAIN IN SANCHO TALKS

Manchester United remain in talks with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of Jadon Sancho.

There remains a gap in valuation, but negotiations are said to be “moving in the right direction”.

All parties are more optimistic of getting a deal done this summer compared to last year.

Personal terms not expected to be an issue after they were finalised when United tried to sign Sancho last summer.

United remains the most “realistic destination” for Sancho – though other clubs remain interested.

UNITED OPEN CONTRACT TALKS WITH POGBA

Manchester United have opened talks with Paul Pogba’s representatives over a new contract.

Pogba’s current deal is up in the summer of 2022.

ARSENAL UPDATE…

 Arsenal Technical Director Edu manager Mikel Arteta are already working hard on potential arrivals and Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is someone they are interested in.

The Gunners are one of a number of clubs interested in Brighton and England defender Ben White and they have not ruled out signing Brighton keeper Mat Ryan on a permanent deal.

Ryan was on loan at the Emirates last season but may want assurances of game time before committing to a move.

Elsewhere, Arsenal remain in touch with Real Madrid over Martin Odegaard.

The Norway international was on loan at the Emirates for the second half of last season and Arsenal are looking into the possibility of signing him on a permanent deal.

Odegaard’s price is the big issue.

ROMA IN ADVANCED TALKS FOR XHAKA

Roma are in advanced negotiations with Arsenal for the transfer of midfielder Granit Xhaka.

Roma are thought to be close to Arsenal’s valuation – but have yet to agree a fee.

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem.

Xhaka is currently with the Switzerland squad ahead of Euro 2020.

SPURS IN ADVANCED FONSECA TALKS

Paulo Fonseca and Tottenham in advanced talks over the vacant head coach role.

The former Roma boss is expected to sign a three-year deal but nothing is agreed yet.

Fabio Paratici has been involved in the process and is due to be announced soon as the club’s new director of football.

Spurs have already failed with attempts to appoint Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte.

SUPER LEAGUE SIX COUNT COST OF PREMIER LEAGUE ‘FINES’

The six English clubs which secretly agreed to play in a European Super League (ESL) will pay just over £20m to draw a line under their ensuing row with the Premier League.

Sky News has learnt that the figure – which equates to an average of around £3.5m per club – will be announced by English football’s top flight on Wednesday afternoon.

Sources close to the agreement said that it also included the prospect of swingeing penalties for any similar transgression by Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United or Tottenham in future.

Any of those clubs which signed up to a similar project would be liable to a penalty of more than £20m and a 30-point Premier League deduction, according to one source.

The Premier League-imposed fines are comparable to those imposed by UEFA, which announced a package of “reintegration measures” for the nine clubs who agreed to pull out of the ESL during a torrid 48-hour period at the end of April.

SPOTIFY OWNER LOOKS SET TO INCREASE ARSENAL BID

Spotify owner Daniel Ek looks set to increase his bid for Arsenal to £2 billion.

Three weeks ago the 38-year old Swede confirmed that his initial offer of £1.8 billion had been rejected by club owner Stan Kroenke.

Despite the rejection Ek confirmed that he remained interested in buying the club.

It’s understood the billionaire Arsenal fan is now preparing to increase his offer to £2 billion.

Stan Kroenke’s position remains unchanged. He and his son Josh released a statement at the end of April saying they remain “100% committed to Arsenal and are not selling any stake in the Club.”

“Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this.”
