The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia have discussed expanding cooperation through digital technologies aimed at making cross-border payments faster and more efficient.
Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, Khaled Mohamed Balama, said collaboration with Indonesia in digital payment systems would help boost economic resilience, deepen trade relations and encourage greater investment flows between the two nations.
Indonesia’s Ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis, commended the UAE’s progress in developing its payment infrastructure and stressed the need for continued cooperation between the two countries’ central banks.

He said the adoption of national currencies for bilateral settlements, integration of payment platforms and sharing of expertise could provide additional support for trade and investment activities.
The discussions were held at the Central Bank of the UAE’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi as both countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, particularly in the banking and financial sectors.
