VP Osinbajo presides as FEC honours the late Mahmud Turkur

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is presiding over the virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council that began at 10.00am Nigerian time on Wednesday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It is the second cabinet meeting since President Buhari traveled to the United Kingdom about a fortnight ago for a routine medical check-up.

Before the commencement of the meeting, there was a minute silence in honour of Nigeria’s former cabinet member, late Alhaji Mahmud Turkur, who died last Friday at the age of 82.

The late Turkur was Nigeria’s Minister of Commerce and Industry between 1983 and 1984.

Physically present at the virtual meeting are the Minister  Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed;  Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami; and Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba.

Also present at the meeting are the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; and the National Security Adviser, Major-Gen.  Babagana Monguno (Rtd).

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation is being represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, Dr. Habiba Lawal.
