Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, headlined the final night of Afro Plus Fest 2026 in Maryland, United States, on Sunday.
The artiste performed on the last day of the three-day festival, which took place from 4 to 6 September at the Northwest Stadium Complex in Landover, Maryland.
The show also coincided with Wizkid’s 15th anniversary in the music business.

He first broke through in 2011 with his debut album ‘Superstar’, which included the hit single “Holla at Your Boy.”
Since then, Wizkid has become one of Nigeria’s biggest Afrobeats artistes, gaining worldwide recognition and winning a Grammy Award.
Performing alongside a global line-up of Afrobeats, dancehall and hip-hop acts, he delivered a string of career-defining songs that had the audience singing along.
His set included “In My Bed,” “Daddy Yo,” “Bad to Me,” “Slow Down,” “Caro,” “Essence,” “Alaye,” “Jogodo,” “Money Constant,” and “Ojuelegba.”
Following his breakthrough, Wizkid has built one of the most decorated careers in African music. He became the first Nigerian artiste to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as both a co-writer and featured artiste on Drake’s “One Dance.”
His catalogue features albums such as ‘Ayo’, ‘Made in Lagos’, ‘More Love’, ‘Less Ego’ and ‘Morayo’.
Wizkid has also won a Grammy for his work on Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl” and is currently the most-streamed African artiste on platforms including Spotify. His collaboration with Tems, “Essence,” achieved major global crossover success.
Appearing as the closing-night headliner highlighted both Wizkid’s influence on Afrobeats and Afro Plus Fest’s fast growth into a major diaspora event.
The official line-up had announced Nigerian star Davido for Friday, Jamaican dancehall artiste Alkaline for Saturday, and Wizkid to close on Sunday. Other performers included Lil Baby, Latto, Tems, Ayra Starr, Tiwa Savage, Olamide and Adekunle Gold.
Billed as the largest Afro-Caribbean-Hip Hop festival, the 2026 edition was expanded to a three-day format across two stages and attracted an estimated 40,000 fans daily.
Speaking on the festival’s growth, Founder and Executive Producer Michael Awosanya said in an earlier statement that it had developed into a global diaspora movement.
“The block party we dreamed about for a decade became a reality, and it exceeded every expectation. This sold-out debut proved that Afro Plus Fest is not just an event, it’s a movement. This was only the beginning. Afro Plus Fest is here to stay,” Awosanya stated.
