The Association of Business Women for Asiwaju has commended the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for her leadership in championing the Power of 10 Million Women initiative.

Leading a delegation on a courtesy visit in Abuja, Princess Omotola Omole, National Coordinator of the Association of Nigerian Business Women Network, President of the ECOWAS Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs Nigeria, and Regional Vice President under the ECOWAS Commission, said the visit was to appreciate the Minister for the successful mobilisation of women across the country.

“We came here today on a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister to thank her for the programme we just attended, the 10 Million Women movement. It was a beautiful one, it was successful. We have all our women here and otheWomen were represented from different states,” she said.

Princess Omole stated that the association is prepared to work closely with the Ministry to deepen women’s empowerment from the zonal level to states and wards nationwide.

“We thought that we should not just end it on the field, we need to come so that we can work together to see how we can put women in places. We are here for the future of 10 million women, how we can take it to empower our women from each zone to states to ward level so that every Nigerian woman will be empowered, so that we will have a voice in this country,” she stated.

Responding, the Minister, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, thanked members of the association for their participation in the maiden edition of the Power of 10 Million Mega Empowerment and Rally, describing the coming together of women as a force capable of transforming lives and reshaping the future.

“There is something about powerful women coming together, magic happens, dreams come true, lives will change. I look forward to us doing a lot together and to the things we make happen. Your participation was critical,” she said.

The Minitwr stressed that although women in Nigeria continue to make individual sacrifices, there is a need for collective action to achieve greater representation and inclusion.

“My arrival at this ministry was an eye opener to me that we cannot get beyond where we are if we do not begin to do things as a block,” she stated.

According to her, the initiative, conceived after consultations, is aimed at creating a unified platform for women across Nigeria and amplifying their political and social relevance ahead of the 2027 elections.

“If you look at the Power of 10 Million Women, it was delivered in less than 10 days, with no money, only a vision. We looked, the election is happening, we are being cut out of the whole thing as women, let us do something that will shake the whole system, that will be able to make stakeholders know that without the women 2027 will not happen,” she noted.

She acknowledged the financial challenges encountered during mobilisation but maintained that the vision behind the movement justified the sacrifices.

Drawing comparisons with other African countries, the Minister said stronger female representation in governance has been achieved through unity and collective action.

“If you go to Rwanda, Kenya, where they have 50 to 70 per cent of parliament, it is because the women came together, to dream together, to plan together, to work together,” she cited.

Describing the movement as a call for solidarity among Nigerian women, the Minister said the initiative seeks to build a united voice against all forms of abuse and exclusion.

“The Power of 10 Million is simply ten million votes from the women. In Nigeria, women are going through a lot, but we do not have a movement, we do not have just one voice to project us. We need to all come together, to protect ourselves,” she emphasised.

The visit by the Association of Business Women for Asiwaju underscores growing support for the Minister’s drive to strengthen women’s participation, economic inclusion, and national development through the Power of 10 Million Women initiative.
