The Zamfara State Government has commended the Nigerian Army over a military operation in Gummi Local Government Area that reportedly eliminated more than 300 suspected terrorists.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Dantawasa, the government described the operation as a major success in the fight against banditry and violent crime in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.
The state said the operation marks a significant step towards improving security and restoring stability in communities affected by persistent attacks.
Governor Dauda Lawal praised the courage and professionalism of the Nigerian military and other security agencies involved in the operation.
“Their gallantry, professionalism, and sacrifices continue to inspire confidence among residents,” the governor said.
Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through logistics, intelligence sharing, and other lawful measures aimed at restoring lasting peace across the state.
According to him, the reported success of the operation shows that sustained collaboration and coordinated security efforts can effectively tackle criminal groups.
The governor also urged residents to work closely with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help uncover criminal hideouts and prevent future attacks.
He reiterated that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property under its Rescue Mission Agenda.
The Zamfara State Government congratulated the Nigerian Armed Forces on the reported achievement and encouraged the military to sustain the ongoing operations until all parts of the state are free from terrorists and armed bandits.
