President Bola Tinubu has defended the removal of Fuel subsidy, pledging to sustain his administration’s economic reforms as he seeks a renewed mandate from Nigerians in the 2027 General election.
President Tinubu maintained that the removal of petroleum subsidy was a decision taken in the interest of the nation, assuring Nigerians that his administration would continue pursuing policies aimed at improving the country’s economic prospects.
The President made this known in Kaduna during the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign, where he addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters and party faithful drawn from different parts of the country.

He called for sustained support for his reform agenda, making the 2027 election a platform for Nigerians to assess his administration’s policies, achievements and promises.
The President’s remarks placed economic reforms and national development at the centre of the ruling party’s campaign as political activities intensify ahead of the next general election.
The National Campaign Coordinator, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, also called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing what he described as ”the positive impact of the administration’s programmes on the country.”

Senator Yari maintained that the President deserved another term, urging voters to consider the government’s performance in determining their political choices in 2027.
In a related development, the APC presented its party flags to Governors from the seven states of the North-West, formally recognising them as the party’s candidates for the 2027 governorship elections.
The Governors are Uba Sani of Kaduna, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Nasir Idris of Kebbi and Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State.
The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, presented the flags during the campaign flag-off, expressing confidence in the Governors’ chances of securing another term.
Professor Yilwatda said; ”the Governors deserved re-election, citing their development projects and efforts to improve the welfare of residents in their respective states.”
The development forms part of the APC’s broader mobilisation strategy to consolidate its support base across the country, combining the President’s re-election campaign with efforts to retain control of state governments.
The Kaduna rally attracted party leaders, elected officials, political stakeholders and supporters from across Nigeria, underscoring the importance of nationwide political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
As the campaign gathers momentum, economic reforms, the cost of living, governance performance and public welfare are expected to feature prominently in the national debate over the country’s political future.
