A Non-governmental Organisation based in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital,” Angama Alkhairine skill acquisitions” has trained and graduated over two hundred and twenty female hair dressers, makeup artists among others.
The graduants were drawn from Abuja and neighbouring states of Nassarawa, Niger and Kaduna state.
The programme which was organised by Angama skill acquisitions programme in collaboration with Angama Alkharine was aimed at complimenting federal government initiative toward alleviating poverty in the society, particularly those from the North Central part of the country.
Speaking during the graduation, the founder and Chairman of Angama Alkharine Skills Acquisitions, Muhammad Nasiru said, he is working on modalities to bring the programme to various neighborhoods where residents of the communities could easily access it and be trained.
Angama said that the global pandemic had taught people invaluable lessons on values of having a skill to compliment life and put food on the table for their families.
According to the Chairman, the NGO is planning to train more people and also conduct monitoring band evaluation on each successful participants as well as empowering them with stipends to start business.
He added that, ” we are using entrepreneurial skills acquisition to fight poverty because White Collar jobs are not available any more as it was before now.
” We intend to organise skills acquisition where residents of the community can easily access in their neighborhoods and learn different skills for free”.
” Our intention is to see that beneficiaries of such programmes are able to be self reliant and put food on their table”, Angama noted.
Angama then enjoined the beneficiaries to use the opportunity they acquire during the training to start up something that will enable them to be self reliance in the society.
The Chairman of Angama Alkhairine Skills Acquisitions also revealed that he soon unfold another batch of the programme so that youths within the society can reduce over depending on Government jobs.
Earlier the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido said that such programmes would go a long way in reducing restlessness within the society.
The Chairman who represented by his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Tanko noted that the get rich quick syndrone had become a bane destroying the lives and future of teeming youths and called on other NGOs to emulate the gesture to alleviate poverty in the society.
He commended the NGO on its idea and selfless efforts at ensuring that youths in the community were trained with different skills free of charge.
Beneficiaries of the programme who commended the initiative, noted that they would make use of what they have learned to build themselves.
