Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have arrested five suspected armed criminals during an operation in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, following a distress call over an attack by criminal elements.
In a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the operation followed the deployment of troops from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Karim Lamido after receiving information on the activities of armed elements threatening communities within the area.
The troops immediately mobilised to the location and came under fire from unidentified gunmen upon arrival. The soldiers responded with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to abandon their position and flee in different directions.

The troops pursued the fleeing suspects and successfully apprehended five individuals believed to be connected to the criminal activity.
Items recovered during the operation included two motorcycles, daggers, machetes, assorted charms, gunpowder and five mobile phones.
Reacting to the development, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage and determination during the operation.
Brigadier General Akaliro reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining pressure against criminal elements in line with the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, while urging troops to remain vigilant and continue denying threats freedom of action within the area of responsibility.
The Brigade Commander assured residents of Taraba State that the Nigerian Army would continue pursuing criminal networks and maintaining operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across the state.
