As Nigerians and the rest of the world mark the New Year 2023, the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has urged the electorate to shun violence and vote buying in the 2023 general elections.
Adelabu stated this in his new year message made available by the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organisation (BACO), saying the outgone year was a challenging one for the country, especially in the area of security and economic downturn.
“Despite so many challenges facing the country in the areas of security and economy, there’s the need to thank God for the gift of life.
“The year 2023 is important and significant in the life of Nigerians because two critical exercises, the general elections and population and housing census will be conducted towards the advancement of the country.
“These two critical decisions are important for national development, especially the 2023 general elections, which is a major factor that will determine the fate of the country and states in terms of governance and general well-being of the masses,” Adelabu said.
The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) also appealed to politicians and their followers to shun any act that is capable of truncating the Nigerian nascent democracy.
