Oyo state Signs MoU With France to upgrade Healthcare facilities

The government of Oyo state has signed a duo- based Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with France to enable the state free access to a facility of 50 million Euros, to improve and upgrade the healthcare infrastructure and also enhance the educational sector of the state. The signing of the memorandums of understanding (MOU) was held at the Executive Chamber, State Secretariat, Ibadan, on Thursday.

The MOU includes signing of the Commercial Agreement on the healthcare project tagged “Oyo Healthcare New Initiative,” and a Memorandum of Understanding on French Language Promotion in Oyo State, as it continues to build on mutually beneficial relationship.

According to Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oyewo Oyelowo, in his opening address, the concessional loan will help to refurbish the state hospital at Ring Road, and also engender a worthwhile improvement in the state’s education and possible learning of French language.

Also, the French Nigeria- ambassador, Emmanuelle Blatmann assured that the loan will be a flexible one, stating that it is only payable within a period of 40 years, while the repayment officially commences after 15 years of its acquisition. Blatmann also added that such a gesture is extended to an African country in the thirty years, noting that it will encompass healthcare, qualitative education and globalisation of Oyo state.

The state governor, Seyi Makinde stated in his remarks that the loan will boost commerce and labour growth and development in the area, with its interest rate of 0.0009. Makinde reiterated that all general hospitals in the state, which includes Oyo, Igbeti, Ogbomoso will be affected positively.
