Anambra State inaugurates export based seed processing plant

PANAC Industries Limited, an export based seed processing plant, has been inaugurated by the Anambra state Commissioner for Industry, Dr Obinna Ngonadi.

The event took place at Ogbunike Industrial Clusters, Oyi Local government area of Anambra state.

Commissioner Ngonadi who appreciated the Managing Director, of PANAC Industries Ltd, Mr. Chinedu Aniagboso for putting up the seed processing facility which he described as the first-of-its-kind in the state.

He noted that it is going to provide job opportunities for the teeming youths and create wealth for the state, noting that the initiative is in line with governor Soludo’s administration vision for the state.

He pointed out that, “The state government is planning a transit from importation to exportation by engaging some consultants that will be preparing government industrial policies, adding that soon the government is going to launch an investment summit for industrialists in the state.”

The commissioner further disclosed that the state government has planned to give exporting Industries needed support by creating a market for their products as well as help to standardize their products and that the government is setting up industrial clusters to encourage those who want to set up Industries and advised them to come to the government industrial clusters through the ministry of industries.

The Managing Director of PANAC Industries Limited, Mr. Aniagboso in a welcome address said that his vision for the industry is to exploit the opportunities that abound in the agricultural food chain in Nigeria as the nation is blessed with a lot of resources especially in the agricultural sector which are yet untapped.

In his address, the President of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, Chief Kevin Obieri called on the government to encourage and support export-based Industries by creating an enabling environment for their export business to thrive.

Earlier in his speech, the Director-General of Onitsha Business School, Professor Olusegun Sogbesan described the seed processing facility as the base in the South-East, adding that the facility is capable of producing a minimum of over Sixty metric tons of seeds per day and that the products already have markets, as seven containers have been exported to China already.

Highpoints of the event were the blessing of the facility by the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Parish Igbedor, Reverend Father Josephat-Mario Maduabuonwu and cutting of tape by Commissioner Ngonadi.
