Religious and traditional leaders have called on Nigerians to be calm as INEC set for the announcement of election results.
“The two institutions also plead with the aspirants and their followers across the country to accept Election results in good faith for peace and stability in the country.”
While appealing to the entire citizens of the country to unite and make the country a better place.
The Directors of Interfaith Mediation Centre, Nurayn Ashafa and James Movel Wuye made the call during an interview with journalists in Kaduna.
According to the directors they called on Nigerians to remain calm and live in harmony.
“let’s unite and save our nation from avoidable anarchy in the spirit of common humanity.”
“We call on all and sundry to eschew all forms of violence emanating from outcome of these election results and embrace each other in a peaceful atmosphere.”
Ashafa and James emphasized on the need for all Nigerians to equally avoid all forms of “Jubilation or protests that can infringe on the right of others.”
While emphasising onstressing indiscriminate killings and destruction happening in Kano and other states during election is condemnable and sacrilegious to religions and values.
They urged the government to immediately arrest the situation, and bring respite to all the affected communities across the nation.
May peace prevail in Nigeria. “Long live the federal republic of Nigeria!” The Directors concluded.
