The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, says he will lead the campaign team for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the FCT and Rivers State.
Wike disclosed this on Friday in Abuja after inspecting the ongoing Kuje-Gwagwalada road dualisation project.
He said he would soon inaugurate the campaign teams for the two locations, adding that supporters of the President from different political platforms were preparing for the 2027 elections.

“The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), I believe, is putting itself together for an aggressive campaign.
“For us who are supporting Mr President from different political platforms, we have put our machinery ready to fully kickstart.
“Very soon, I will inaugurate the campaign team for Tinubu in the FCT and Rivers State, which I will lead. “All elements of the APC are ready, Mr President is ready, we are ready, and you can see the enthusiasm,” Wike said.
The minister also linked the administration’s infrastructure projects in the FCT to its prospects in the 2027 elections.

He said residents would assess the government based on the projects being delivered across the territory, while dismissing the possibility of allegations of electoral malpractice in relation to the FCT.
“People are happy, and I don’t know who will contest against Mr President as far as this election is concerned.
“This is governance, and this is what people expect. It will translate directly into actual votes,” he said.
Wike said the administration’s infrastructure projects would attract support for Tinubu and other candidates in the FCT, including candidates seeking election to the Senate and House of Representatives.
“It is very obvious. Nobody will be able to claim rigging in the FCT. The ‘rigging’ is the projects we are delivering, making the people happy,” he said.
The minister also commended the contractor and engineers working on the Kuje-Gwagwalada road, assuring that adequate funding would be provided to facilitate completion by December.
“This is my first time getting to this side of the road, and I can see how highly populated this area is,” he said.
Wike said functional infrastructure was an important component of governance and could improve the quality of life of residents.

He also thanked President Tinubu for what he described as sustained support for capital projects in the FCT.
