APC’s Senators Barau, Doguwa and NNPP Candidates win in Kano state

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared the chairman Senate committee on Appropriation senator Jubril Barau Jibrin of the All Progressive Congress, APC, winner of the Kano North Senatorial district.

 

Similarly, the majority leader of the house, Alhassan Dogowa all of the APC the winner of the February 25 elections for Kano North Senatorial district and Doguwa/ Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State respectively

 

Barau Jibrin, who is going to the red chamber for the third time was declared the winner on Sunday by the returning officer of the Senatorial district, Professor Tijjani Magaji Bamanga.

Barau polled 234, 652 votes to defeat his closest opponent of the New Nigerian Peoples Party NNPP, Dr. Baffa Bichi who got 177,

The majority leader of the House of Representatives, Honourable, Alhassan Doguwa scored a total of 39,732 votes to defeat his closest rival, Salisu Abdullahi of the New Nigeria People’s Party  NNPP, who polled 34,798 votes.

 

Also the returning officer of Rano, Bunkure/ Kibiya Federal Constituency  Professor Suleiman Bichi announced the candidate of NNPP Kabiru Alhassan Rano, former speaker of Kano state Assembly, as the winner having scored the highest number of votes of 50,160 votes while Aliyu Musa Aliyu of APC  scores 35,235 votes.

 

Tijjani Jobe of New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, who has been in the green chamber since 1999, has also been declared as a winner for Tofa, Rimin Gado / Dawakin Tofa federal constituency as announced by the returning officer Professor Saminu Yahaya

 

Tijjani Jobe of NNPP scored 52,456 votes, while Abba Ganduje of APC scored 44,809.

 

Meanwhile, the collation of presidential election results will continue by 10 am local time on Monday morning

 

The state returning officer, Professor Sulieman Bilbis after collating 38 local government area results out of the 44l LGA’s way down to the early hours of Monday morning adjourned the session and announced that it will continue Monday morning.
