The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has held its National Convention to consolidate the manifesto of its 2027 presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The convention was held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, with the theme, “Consolidating the Blueprint for a New Nigeria to Secure Our Homeland and Defeat Poverty.”
The National Chairman of the SDP, Professor Sadiq Gombe, charged party members to support the party’s manifesto and unite ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Professor Gombe said the party remained strong, organised and united, with structures extending from the national level to the ward level.
He said despite the challenges the party had faced in the past, the SDP remained committed to due process, its constitution, the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in conducting its affairs.
The National Chairman said the SDP was founded on the principles of social justice, equity, fairness, inclusion and equal opportunities.
He stressed that political power should be used to transform society, uplift the people and restore hope to Nigerians.
The SDP presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, said his manifesto remained resolute in its commitment to ending poverty and insecurity and building a Nigeria that citizens could be proud of.
Prince Adebayo said leadership was not about occupying public office but accepting the responsibility of solving the problems confronting the people.
He noted that Nigeria had sufficient natural resources to prosper and pledged to ensure that technocrats were assigned to transform the country’s abundant resources into prosperity if elected President of Nigeria.
The presidential candidate urged SDP members to return to their communities and commence sustained door-to-door mobilisation, stressing that the party must win the hearts and minds of Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Chairman of the SDP State Chairmen Forum, Mr Femi Olaniyi, charged members to strengthen the party’s structures in their respective states rather than depending on the national leadership.
Mr Olaniyi also commended the SDP presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, for his financial and moral support for the party.
Speaking on behalf of the governorship candidates, IGP Mohammed Adamu urged supporters and state chairmen to return to their respective communities and mobilise voters to support the party’s candidates at all levels.
