Gubernatorial Election: Edo Deputy Governor sues for peace

Edo state deputy governor Mr Phillip Shuaibu has voted in his polling unit 5 in ward 11 in Azama Primary School in Jattu Esako West local government area of Edo state Southern Nigeria.

Mr Shuaibu while briefing journalists after he cast his vote said no election is worth the blood of any citizen.

We should not shed blood all in the name of contesting because after the election all of us will still be here. For those that are instigating violence, we pray to God to touch their heart. The era of violence in an election are gone” he said.

 

Low voters turnout
Speaking on the voting process, he commended the process so far adding that the BVAS worked perfectly unlike the previous election.

Today’s own is not like the last one. When I came out the turnout was not much, but gradually the people are coming out. I think there was too much apprehension in the previous elections” he said.

The candidate of the New Nigeria’s People’s Party NNPP, Mr Sanni Kafeel after voting at ward 11 polling unit 4 in Azama primary school also in Esako west, Edo state also decried the low turnout of voters at the polling units.
According to him the low turn-out of voters was a result of the outcome of the presidential and National Assembly elections held on 25 February 2023.
