Voters in Sokoto State North West Nigeria turned out en mass to vote for candidates of their choice in the Governorship and State Assembly elections.
The Senator representing Sokoto Central constituency at the National assembly, Aliyu Wamakko was among the large crowd of voters who cast their votes.
Wamakko voted at Gidan Kara Polling Unit 011 in Wamakko ward.
Speaking after voting, Senator Wamakko appreciated the arrangements put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and the peaceful conduct of the people.
Also in Wamakko Local Government area of Sokoto State, a large turnout of voters for the Governorship and State Assembly elections is being recorded.
A visit to Yarkuluwa Market Polling unit 007 saw a high turnout of prospective voters queuing to vote.
The Presiding officer Muhammed Mubaraq said the unit has 1044 registered voters and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS devices were working without hitch.
Also, at Shiyyar Hakimi polling unit 006, large voter turnout is also being recorded.
The unit according to the Presiding officer Yusuf Bala has 1332 registered voters.
The situation was the same at Yarkulu borehole 0012 but lacked security presence.
The wards are located in Kalambaina Garabchi ward, Wamakko Local Government.
