Nasarawa state Government expresses satisfaction with Monthly Sanitation compliance

The Nasarawa State Government has expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by members of the public during the March sanitation exercise in the state.
Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Mr. Yakubu Kwanta, gave the commendation while addressing journalists after the monthly sanitation exercise in Lafia.
The Commissioner described the level of compliance as impressive and attributed it to feats to support from security agencies, traditional rulers, media as well as inspection teams from the ministry.
He also commended residents especially shop owners for clearing drainages around their environments and shops.
He explained that the March sanitation exercise was more of sensitization because enforcement was relaxed.
He said sanitation exercise was not observed in February in the state due to the recent elections which was why they decided to go out and create awareness to the public.
He also said that the government had strengthened the capacity of the inspectors in all the 13 Local Government Areas for more efficiency.
He called on members of the public to always keep their environment clean to guard against the outbreak of all diseases.
“Residents should cooperate more with the government towards ensuring that the state is clean in their best interest.
“If the environment was kept clean, it will guard against a possible outbreak of any disease, thereby ensuring improved healthy living of the people,’’ the commissioner noted.
The commissioner futher said Nasarawa state would sustain its status of cleanliness, as the government has set aside the last Saturday of every month for sanitation exercises.
He also used the medium and expressed gratitude to the people of the state for voting for Gov. Abdullahi Sule, his Principal again for the second term.
Kwanta, therefore congratulated the governor and wished him success in the second tenure.
