The House of Representatives has called on the Nigerian government to ensure more security at the Airports to protect air travellers and others.

This resolution followed the adoption of a motion of Urgent Public Importance sponsored by Jimoh Olajide from Lagos during Tuesday’s plenary.

Moving the motion, Olajide referred to the commotion caused by a supposed passenger on Friday, March 31 2023 that breached the peace and safety of travellers on the flight which had to be held for about 3 hours before the situation was brought under control.

He said, “there is a need for government to ensure the security of all travellers at all times while calling for the deployment of technology to improve the level of security at the nation’s airports.”

The lawmaker also called on other relevant agencies in the Aviation sector to ensure the safety of travellers and screening people properly before they board flights.

The motion was voted on and adopted by the general House.
