HYPPADEC promises to meet mandate of it’s establishment

The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) says it is committed to meeting the mandate of which it was established.

The Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa disclosed this when members of the Governing Board paid homage to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari at his palace.
Alhaji Yelwa explained that HYPPADEC which was signed into law in 2010 and subsequently reviewed in the year 2013 is mandated to improve living standards of hydro electric areas, tackle ecological menace and initiate projects that will have direct impact on host communities.
He said that the governing board were in Ilorin to visit flood prone communities and let them know the plans of Federal Government for them.
Responding, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari applauded the Federal Government’s gesture of setting up HYPPADEC and advised them to see how they can ameliorate the devastating effects of flooding in areas often affected annually in Kwara State.
The Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPPADEC consists of States where electricity are generated from water which include Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue and Plateau States.
The HYPPADEC Governing Board team was led to the Emirs Palace by the Chairman, Mr Joseph Tarfa.
