The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has appealed to the people to redouble their prayers and effort for peaceful co-existence in the State and Nigeria generally.

The Emir made the appeal while delivering his first traditional Eid al-Fitr message at the palace after attending the Eid prayers.

He missed performing the annual ritual since assuming office two years ago as the Emir of Kano because of the Covid-19 pandemic which limited public gatherings.

The Emir said; “such spiritual exercise and effort will enhance peace and unity of Kano and indeed Nigeria.”

He also applauded the Kano State government for uplifting standards in Education, health and agriculture, which  he said have generally impacted on lives of the people especially the less privileged.

Leading the prayer at the Kofar mata Eid ground in the ancient city of  Kano, the Chief Imam of Kano State, Professor Sani Zahardeen, congratulated Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the Holy month of Ramadan.

He urged them to “leave in peace with one another and extend good gestures to the needy.”

Similar event was held peacefully in the four newly created emirates of Karaye, Bichi, Rano and Gaya.

A full traditional Durbar to mark the Eid al- Fitr will be held on Friday at the open field in the Emir’s palace.
