The Governor of Sokoto State in northwest Nigeria, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, visited Sokoto pilgrims at their tents in Mina as part of his engagement during the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
During the visit, Governor Aliyu expressed satisfaction with the commendable conduct and discipline displayed by pilgrims from Sokoto State throughout their stay in Madinah and Makkah. He praised their behaviour as reflective of the values and integrity of the state.

The governor also used the occasion to offer condolences to the people of Shagari Local Government Area following the death of Bala Jangebe and to the Gudu Local Government Area over the passing of Hadiza. He prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls and strength for their families.

In a gesture of goodwill and festive celebration, Dr. Aliyu distributed Eid gifts to the pilgrims, presenting each with 1,000 Saudi Riyals. The kind gesture was warmly received and drew widespread appreciation from the pilgrim community, who lauded the governor for his thoughtfulness and continued support.
Governor Aliyu’s visit underscores his administration’s commitment to the welfare of Sokoto State citizens, even while abroad and highlights the importance of leadership presence during significant spiritual and communal moments.
