Ebonyi Government Approves Housing Scheme For Widows

The Ebonyi State Government has given Approval for the construction of 65 Housing units of three Bedroom Bungalows for 65 widows in the state.

This follows the completion of the 1st phase of the Widows Housing Scheme by the wife of the Governor, and in line with Governor Francis Nwifuru’s vision anchored on the people’s charter of needs.

The State Executive Council approved the commencement of all processes for awarding the construction of 65 housing units of three Bedroom Bungalows for 65 widows in the state.

The approved project which is expected to be for five beneficiaries per local government area is to be executed under the Community Charter of Needs (CCD) .

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barrister Ikeuwa Omebe disclosed this while briefing Journalists on the outcome of the last Executive Council meeting held at New Government House Abakaliki, the state capital.

Omebe further said “the State Executive Council after an exhaustive deliberation on the Progress Report on the Izzo/Amaeze Housing Project set up a 7-man committee to ensure the completion of the Housing Project within two (2) weeks.”

The Commissioner said on the Supply and Installation of 1.5MW Independent Power Plant by the Ebonyi State Government, the Council resolved to invite the contractor in the next EXCO meeting for further clarification.

He added that, in line with the Governor’s determination to provide wireless internet services in selected locations across the state, the Council directed that the already installed facilities be test-run to ensure quality and efficiency before the project’s final handover.
