VON holds town hall meeting to promote staff working relations

Better working condition and improved staff welfare are some of the priorities of managements in ensuring industrial harmony.

To this end, the management and staff of Voice of Nigeria, VON, held a Town Hall meeting aimed at promoting better working relations.

The Director General, VON,  Mr. Osita Okechukwu noted that the forum was an avenue to improve on the welfare of staff to move the organization forward.

Mr. Okechukwu said that dialogue is one of the keys to resolving issues amicably in any organization globally and to maintain cordial relationship between staff and management.

To this end, the Director General deemed it fit to interact with members of staff on the issues bordering them towards finding a lasting solution to the problems.

He noted that the essence of the gathering is to seek ways on how the organisation can meet up to global standards.

“It is in our collective interest to advance in a competitive environment. That was why three years ago, I went out of my way to lobby the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, to get the new headquarters” he said.

The Executive Director News, Mr. Ahaziah Suleiman, explained some of the steps taken so far to give staff a better working environment.

Mr. Suleiman said “staff that won the houses allocated to them should come together to form a front as we did in the past”.

Training and retraining of staff

The Director of Training, Mr. Ben Shemang, noted that there is need to train and re-train staff to be able to meet up with world standard.

Mr. Shemang used the opportunity to tell staff that training exercises would now be in Radio House since there are more spaces for training to take place.

The Deputy Director Programmes, Mr. Zubairu Idris commended the Director General, VON for securing a new office headquarters in Abuja and also making Digital Media’s impact more highly felt.

It would be recalled that on 12th May, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari renewed the tenure of the Director General, Osita Okechukwu for another five years.
