President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated renowned statesman, academic, and politician, Professor Jerry Gana on his 80th birthday.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the elder statesman as “a fine gentleman, a prolific communicator, a mass mobiliser, and a passionate patriot blessed with the gift of oratory.”
He lauded his advocacy for unity, peace, and national development, adding that it has left “an enduring mark on the nation.”
President Tinubu also paid tribute to Professor Gana’s extensive public service career, which spans several administrations and national assignments.
The President further described Professor Gana as a patriotic figure whose contributions have significantly shaped Nigeria’s socio-political evolution.

The Nigerian leader highlighted Professor Gana’s role as a two-time Minister of Information and Culture/National Orientation, as well as his pivotal position as Director of the Mass Mobilisation for Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER) during the Ibrahim Babangida administration.
He further noted that “Professor Gana was elected into the Senate during the aborted Second Republic.”
He commended Professor Gana’s long-standing efforts in national sensitisation and value reorientation, acknowledging his steadfast commitment to advancing Nigeria’s ideals and strengthening civic awareness across communities.
Wishing him a joyous 80th birthday, President Tinubu prayed that God grants Professor Gana many more years of good health and a sound mind.
