Innovation Ministry to Start Energise Commercialisation Programme Soon

By Timothy Choji, Abuja

The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr Kingsley Udeh, has revealed that the Ministry will soon commence a special programme titled “Energise Commercialisation.”

He disclosed this while on a courtesy visit to the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, at the State House in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Dr. Udeh explained that the visit was to inform the First Lady of her appointment as the Champion of the programme. He noted that the initiative aims to transform Nigeria from a technology-importing nation to a technology-innovating nation.

The Minister noted that this will go a long way in strengthening the capabilities of youths, in particular those who have commercially viable inventions and innovations.

The programme, which has started sensitising the people, will be taken across all states of the federation led by the Champion, the First Lady, Mrs Tinubu.

“We will be going to schools, at all levels, nooks and crannies of the states, to reach even the unlettered that have such inventions and innovations. We have the brains and we will be helping them achieve their goals. Nigeria cannot be left out of the world technology revolution,” he said.

The meeting with the First Lady, which was behind closed doors, signals the commencement of the special programme tagged Energise Commercialisation.

The programme has youths and women predominantly as its target.
