The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has called on Nigerians to renew their commitment to national development, stressing that the country’s prosperity depends largely on the collective efforts of its citizens.

The Emir made the call while leading thousands of Muslim faithful in the Eid-el-Fitr prayers in Kano State, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Nigeria’s prosperity lies in the hands of its people through greater commitment, sacrifice, and service,” the monarch declared.

The prayer session was attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside top government officials, traditional rulers, and thousands of worshippers.

Addressing the congregation, Emir Sanusi urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and steadfast, noting that unity and dedication are essential for the nation’s progress.

He also appealed to leaders at all levels to embrace selfless service.

“Leadership is a trust. Those entrusted with authority must prioritise the welfare of the people and serve with sincerity and accountability,” he said.

The Emir further offered prayers for global peace, particularly calling for a swift resolution to tensions in Iran, warning of its potential economic implications worldwide.

At the Al-Furqan Mosque, another Eid congregation, Imam Muhammad Ashir, emphasised gratitude to Allah and the need to sustain the spiritual discipline cultivated during Ramadan.

“The lessons of Ramadan should not end with the month. They must reflect in our daily lives through devotion, patience, and good character,” Ashir told worshippers.

He urged Muslims to forgive one another, strengthen social ties through regular visitations, and engage in voluntary fasting beyond Ramadan, describing it as “a highly rewarding act in the sight of Allah.”

Both Eid prayer sessions, consisting of the traditional two units of prayer, were conducted peacefully across Kano, with residents celebrating the festival in an atmosphere of unity and calm.
