Strict Ban On Commercial Motorcycles
The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, while speaking at the occasion, expressed deep appreciation for the show of solidarity by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security chiefs, saying the gathering gives him hope that the state can overcome its long-standing security challenges.
Mutfwang recalled that the security problem predated his administration, noting that former governors Chief Joshua Dariye, Jonah Jang, and Simon Lalong all battled it.
“It is when you sit on this seat that you appreciate the magnitude of the problem,” he said.
The governor urged community leaders to educate residents on extra vigilance, end complacency, and curb the misuse of social media, which fuels tension through recycled old videos and voice notes.
He announced stricter enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles, long used for criminal activities, while pledging to modernise the transport system.
Mutfwang disclosed that useful leads from the Angwan Rukuba attack are being pursued and prayed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
He appealed to all to see the fight against violence as a common duty, “When you see something, say something. I also want to thank President Tinubu who was deeply touched by the incident and is committed to ending the vicious cycle of violence so that better days lie ahead for Plateau people.” He said.
The Governor also commended Disu for keying into President Tinubu’s vision on policing.
“You are coming at a time when the police are undergoing changes. And I’m glad that you have keyed into the vision of Mr. President,” the governor said.
