The Anambra State Government has announced a partnership with the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and strengthen security in the state.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo disclosed this during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the South-East Zonal Office of the Centre, led by its Zonal Director, Captain Chris Anushiem, at the Government House in Awka.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Soludo said security remains a key priority of his administration, stressing that the government is committed to protecting lives and property through sustained collaboration with security agencies.

He said the partnership with the centre would further enhance the state’s security architecture and pledged the government’s support to ensure the agency effectively discharges its mandate in Anambra.
The South East Zonal Director of the NCCSALW, Captain Anushiem, said the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, established in July 2024, is responsible for the registration, regulation and control of small arms and light weapons across Nigeria.
He called for stronger collaboration with the Anambra State Government, expressing confidence that the partnership would help reduce the circulation of illegal firearms and improve public safety in the state.
