NEMSA Strengthens Partnership with FGN Power Company

The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with FGN Power Company as part of efforts to enhance safety, enforce technical standards, and improve overall performance in Nigeria’s power sector.

This commitment was highlighted during a courtesy visit by the management of FGN Power Company, led by its Managing Director Kenny Anuwe, to NEMSA’s headquarters in Abuja.

The visit also served as an opportunity to congratulate the leadership of the agency and reaffirm mutual cooperation.

Speaking during the meeting, the Managing Director of NEMSA and Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation, Olusegun Adesayo stressed the importance of institutional collaboration in achieving sustainable growth in the electricity industry.

He noted that “both organisations share a common national goal and must align their efforts to deliver improved outcomes for Nigerians.”

According to him, FGN Power Company remains a strategic partner, particularly through its role in managing critical power assets and supporting the expansion of generation capacity and infrastructure optimization.

He commended the company for its contributions to the development of Nigeria’s electricity value chain and reiterated NEMSA’s readiness to maintain a productive and mutually beneficial relationship.

Adesayo further emphasised NEMSA’s statutory responsibility to enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with technical standards, saying “the agency remains focused on safeguarding lives and property across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.”

In his remarks, the Managing Director of FGN Power Company, Kenny Anuwe expressed appreciation for NEMSA’s continued support and acknowledged the agency’s critical role in ensuring operational safety and regulatory compliance within the sector.

He stated that “the strengthened partnership would focus on improving transmission and distribution capacity, enhancing capacity development for operators, mobilising financing for key initiatives, and strengthening coordination among stakeholders.”

He noted that FGN Power Company was established by the Nigerian Government to implement the Presidential Power Initiative, which is designed to transform Nigeria’s power infrastructure and significantly improve electricity supply nationwide.

The renewed collaboration between the two organisations is expected to play a vital role in advancing safety standards, improving efficiency, and driving long-term growth in Nigeria’s power sector.
