Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited Kebbi State to offer condolences following the deaths of security personnel and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
Shettima, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said the federal delegation was in the state to commiserate with the government and people over the death of the Speaker, Muhammad Usman Zuru, 11 army officers, and other victims of an attack in Shanga.
The Vice President said the Federal Government would not relent in its efforts to end insecurity in Nigeria.
“President Tinubu had directed me to visit alongside the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar, to ensure that adequate measures are put in place to support displaced persons in affected communities,” he said.
Shettima also prayed for the victims, asking God to grant them eternal rest and admit them to Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
He assured that the sacrifices of the fallen security personnel would not be in vain.
He further commended Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for ongoing infrastructure development and investments in education over the past three years.
In his remarks, Governor Idris expressed appreciation for the condolence visit.
He said the security personnel lost their lives after responding to a distress call from Giron Masa, where they were ambushed. He pledged continued support for security agencies.
The Emir of Zuru, Muhammadu Sanusi Muka’ilu Gomo, also thanked the President for the visit and prayed for a successful tenure for the administration.
