The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has passed a vote of confidence in its Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, and Vice-chairman and Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, dismissing reports of internal divisions within the forum.
The endorsement followed a closed-door meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors in Abuja, where Governors reaffirmed their support for the current leadership of the forum.
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, moved the motion expressing confidence in Uzodimma’s leadership, while Sani seconded it.
Addressing Journalists as PGF Chairman after the meeting, Idris described rumours of Uzodimma’s alleged removal as false, insisting that the goyvernors remained united.
He said; “More than 18 Governors attended the meeting and reaffirmed their confidence in Uzodimma’s leadership of the forum.”
Idris said that Uzodimma’s role in presiding over the meeting alongside his deputy was clear proof that the forum’s leadership structure remained intact.
He also urged Journalists to verify information before publication and exercise caution in reporting political developments.
Speaking during the briefing, Uzodimma said the forum would not be distracted by what he termed “fake news,” stressing that APC Governors were focused on mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
“We have just concluded a meeting to reaffirm our unflinching support for him,” Uzodimma stated.
He noted that APC Governors had accompanied Kashim Shettima to submit President Tinubu’s nomination forms, signalling the President’s intention to seek re-election.
Uzodimma said the Governors were committed to supporting President Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure development under the administration.
“We will not allow distractions or political blackmail to derail our commitment,” he stated.
The PGF Chairman further called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s re-election, saying continuity would help sustain the administration’s reforms and development programmes.
