Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara says the spate of infrastructure development across the state will give the All Progressives Congress (APC) an advantage in the 2027 general election.
Governor Fubara made the remark while commissioning the 14.5-kilometre Agba-Ndele road and a 200-metre-long bridge linking communities in Emohua and Abua/Odual Local Government Areas.
The governor said that the projects would collectively serve as a strong campaign tool for APC candidates seeking votes at the grassroots.
“I believe that what we have done here today will make it easy for our candidate, who would be representing us at the forthcoming elections,” Fubara said.
He further stated that the party’s candidates would point to the projects as evidence of the APC-led administration’s achievements when campaigning across the communities.

Furthermore, Governor Fubara said the road and bridge reflected his administration’s commitment to taking development to the grassroots and ensuring that residents benefit maximally from the infrastructure.
He said, “I am not interested in just doing anything; I am interested in doing something that can add value and change the life of our people.”
According to him, the intervention became necessary due to the deplorable condition of the old Abua road, which had caused commuters to spend long hours travelling between communities.
He also explained that the bridge project was initiated by a previous administration, saying, “when you see something that will benefit the people, it does not matter who started it. What is important is you complete it and put it to use.”
Governor Fubara urged the people of Agba-Ndele and adjoining communities, including youth groups and traditional rulers, to protect the road and bridge against vandalism as well as charged the Emohua and Abua/Odual council chairmen to take responsibility for safeguarding the projects.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Works, Professor Temple Nwofor, said the 14.5-kilometre road has a 10.3-metre binder-course width, 7.3-metre wearing-course width and three-metre shoulders.
He added that the project included drainage works, a 239.4-metre bridge with walkways on both sides and a 1.2-kilometre access road.
