Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima has commissioned the Onyearugbulem–Shagari/Irese Road Flyover and Junction Improvement Project in Akure, the capital of Ondo State in southwest Nigeria.
VP Shettima described it as a strategic infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and boosting economic activities along the corridor.
Speaking at the ceremony on the Ilesha–Akure–Owo highway, he commended the Ondo State Government for the intervention, noting that infrastructure development remains critical to regional growth and connectivity.
The m State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa described the project as the first flyover in Akure and a major step toward improving traffic flow, road safety and economic productivity in the state capital.
He said the flyover was initiated under the late former governor Rotimi Akeredolu and completed by his administration.
It was named after Afenifere leader Reuben Fasoranti, who turned 100 on Monday.
