The Nigerian Army has expanded its civil-military stabilisation efforts in Zamfara with the donation of 400 bags of fertiliser to farmers in the Maru Local Government Area ahead of the 2026 farming season.
The intervention was carried out through Operation FANSAN YAMMA under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

The distribution exercise took place at the Palace of the Emir of Maru and was attended by military officials, traditional rulers, local government representatives and members of the farming community.

Military authorities stated that the intervention forms part of ongoing Civil-Military Cooperation initiatives aimed at supporting communities affected by insecurity while encouraging agricultural recovery and economic stability across the North West.
Speaking during the exercise, Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Warrah Idris, represented by Deputy Theatre Commander Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdullahi, said the initiative reflects the Armed Forces’ commitment to rebuilding hope and strengthening peace within affected communities.

He reaffirmed that military operations against terrorists and criminal elements across Zamfara and adjoining states would continue alongside efforts to support civilian resilience and local recovery.
The Deputy Theatre Commander also urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the fertilisers during the farming season while encouraging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
The vice chairman of Maru Local Government Area, Honourable Laminu Dansadau, described the intervention as timely and commended the Nigerian Army for supporting local farmers and contributing to economic recovery within the area.

The Emir of Maru, His Royal Highness Abubakar Gado Maigari, also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff for the initiative and assured that the fertilisers would be distributed fairly among genuine farmers across the emirate.

The intervention comes amid ongoing efforts to improve security, restore farming activities and strengthen community stability in parts of northern Nigeria affected by banditry and rural displacement.
