Governor Eno Pushes Peace, Inclusivity In Akwa Ibom State

Glory Ohagwu, Abuja

Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, fairness and political inclusivity in Akwa Ibom State as the state prepares for the forthcoming All Progressives Congress primary elections.

Governor Eno, who spoke against the backdrop of ongoing political consultations in the state, commended aspirants who voluntarily stepped down from the race ahead of the primaries, describing their action as “a patriotic sacrifice made in the interest of party unity and peace in the state.”

The Governor said the aspirants had demonstrated uncommon political maturity by placing “the overall interest of the party and the state above their personal ambitions”.

He maintained that their decision should not be misconstrued as weakness, insisting that it reflected “maturity, loyalty, honour and respect for the party’s leadership and internal harmony”.

In a firm reassurance on inclusivity, Governor Eno pledged to personally engage with the affected aspirants, stressing that sacrifices made for peace and stability would not go unnoticed.

“The party and government remain committed to recognising and reciprocating sacrifices made in the interest of peace, fairness, unity and sustainable progress,” he stated.

The Governor further directed party leaders across Local Government Areas and constituencies to intensify reconciliation efforts and deepen internal cohesion ahead of the primaries.

He also called for the promotion of “workable rotational arrangements that encourage broad participation, equity and inclusiveness in future elections” as part of efforts to strengthen democratic stability and collective progress in the state.
