Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday praised the growing strength of China-Russia relations, describing them as entering a “new stage” of deeper strategic cooperation.
During Putin’s two-day state visit to Beijing, both leaders agreed to extend the China-Russia friendship treaty and pledged to work together for a more just and balanced global order.
The two presidents held talks, attended cultural events, signed several cooperation agreements, and launched the China-Russia Years of Education. Xi said political trust between both nations has deepened, while cooperation in trade, energy, science, technology, and cultural exchanges continues to expand. Putin described bilateral relations as reaching an “unprecedented level” built on strong trust and long-term partnership.
China and Russia also vowed to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, transportation, innovation, education, tourism, and sports. China remains Russia’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade surpassing $200 billion for the third straight year in 2025.
