The Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State has held its state congress, returning Otunba Fagbemi Adegbenro as the party’s State Chairman alongside other newly elected executives to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The congress, held in Ibadan, formally inaugurated a new set of state officers and senatorial executives as the party intensifies preparations for future political contests in the state.

The development comes amid growing political realignments in Oyo State, with the APM emerging as the political platform adopted by Governor Seyi Makinde and several elective office holders in the state.

Members of the House of Representatives elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as PDP members in the Oyo State House of Assembly who secured return tickets, have defected to the APM to contest subsequent elections on the platform of the party.

The development followed a recent mega unity rally between the PDP and the APM, held at the historic Mapo Hall, where Governor Seyi Makinde also declared his intention to run for the office of the President on the platform of the APM, come 2027.
