The Nigerian Army has alerted the public to the activities of fraudsters and criminal syndicates allegedly soliciting funds in the name of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026.
In a disclaimer issued by Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the suspects have been circulating fake letters, sponsorship proposals and funding requests to individuals, corporate organisations, financial institutions and government agencies while falsely claiming to represent the service.

The Army stressed that any request for sponsorship, donations, partnerships or financial support not communicated through official Nigerian Army channels should be treated as fraudulent.
According to the statement, NADCEL 2026 will hold from 1 to 6 July 2026 as part of activities marking the 163rd anniversary of the Nigerian Army, with all legitimate communications regarding the event conveyed only through recognised and verifiable Army platforms.
The Army urged members of the public, businesses, banks and government institutions to verify any communication purportedly issued on its behalf and avoid responding to unsolicited financial requests.
It further warned that individuals involved in impersonation, document forgery or fraudulent fundraising in the name of the Nigerian Army would be identified, arrested and prosecuted.
The statement added that the Nigerian Army, working with the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Military Police and other security agencies, has intensified efforts to track and dismantle the criminal networks behind the scam.
The Army also encouraged the public to report suspicious communications or activities to the nearest military formation or security agency.
