Nonye Soludo Advocates Healthy Living for Nigerians Nationwide

The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has encouraged Nigerians to make healthy living a daily priority, describing good health as the foundation for personal fulfilment, productivity, and national development.

In a statement released in Awka as part of her ongoing health and wellness campaign, the First Lady urged citizens to embrace lifestyles that promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, noting that preventive healthcare remains the most effective way to reduce the burden of lifestyle-related illnesses.

She emphasised that maintaining good health should not be postponed until sickness occurs, stressing that regular self-care is essential for achieving life’s goals.

“Your health is your greatest investment. Every dream, every relationship, and every achievement depends on your overall wellbeing. Don’t wait until your health begins to fail before you value it. Make caring for yourself a daily priority because when your foundation is strong, every other part of your life has the opportunity to flourish,” she said.

Dr. Soludo advised Nigerians to adopt healthy habits, including eating balanced meals, exercising regularly, drinking enough water, getting adequate sleep, and undergoing routine medical examinations.

According to her, these simple practices can significantly lower the risk of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders.

She also called on families, educational institutions, workplaces, and community leaders to promote environments that encourage healthy lifestyles, noting that collective efforts would improve public health, increase productivity, and reduce healthcare costs.

The First Lady highlighted the activities of her organisation, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, where she serves as founder and Chief Executive Officer, saying it continues to champion public health awareness, healthy nutrition, disease prevention, and physical fitness through community-based initiatives across Anambra State.

She explained that the NGO regularly organises healthy living walks and other outreach programmes designed to encourage exercise, healthy eating, and preventive measures against cardiovascular and other non-communicable diseases.

Welcoming Nigerians to the month of July, Dr. Soludo expressed optimism that the new month would usher in peace, sound health, and renewed hope for families across the country.

“As we enter this new month with gratitude, I pray it brings joy, peace, good health, and divine favour to every home. May we all find fresh hope, continue to serve with love, and believe in a brighter future,” she added.
