APC Leaders Launch Thanksgiving Walk Ahead of 2027 Election

By Tunde Akanbi, Ilorin

Leaders and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, on Sunday staged a thanksgiving road walk in Ilorin.

They described the event as a celebration of the successful conduct of the party’s primary elections and a show of unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The rally, organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, attracted party faithful and key stakeholders who reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the APC leadership.

Speaking at the event, the Kwara State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Alhaji Abdulateef Alakawa, said the roadwalk was organised to appreciate God for the peaceful outcome of the APC primaries and to thank the party leadership for what he described as a transparent process that reflected the wishes of members.

According to him, the successful emergence of candidates through direct primaries demonstrated that the party had respected the choice of its members.

“Power belongs to the people, and the people have spoken through the direct primary elections. We are grateful to God that the primaries were peaceful and successful, with our candidates emerging across the various positions,” Alakawa said.

He added that the event also served as an early mobilisation exercise for the 2027 elections, stressing that APC members in the state remained loyal to President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq.

Addressing concerns over aggrieved aspirants, Alakawa insisted that the ruling party remained united, noting that reconciliation efforts had already commenced.

“In every democratic process, there will be winners and others who may not emerge. As far as the APC is concerned, we have no losers. The party has already constituted a reconciliation committee, and we are confident all issues will be resolved,” he said.

The APC candidate for the Kwara North Senatorial District, Dr Ahmad Muhammad, also expressed appreciation to party members for their support during the primaries.

He thanked President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq for what he described as visionary leadership, particularly commending the decision to zone the party’s governorship ticket to Kwara North.

“We appreciate the people of Kwara for giving Kwara North the opportunity to produce the next governor. Today’s rally demonstrates the confidence and support the people have for the leadership of Gov. AbdulRazaq and the APC,” Muhammad said.

Expressing optimism about the party’s chances in the next general elections, he said the APC would retain its electoral dominance in the state.

“We are confident of victory. APC has continued to enjoy the support of the people, and we believe that will be sustained,” he added.
