Nigeria’s President Reviews National Security with Defence Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday convened a high-level security meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, bringing together the nation’s military leadership, heads of intelligence agencies, and senior security advisers to review the country’s security situation.

The closed-door session, which lasted more than two hours, was confirmed by the State House through photographs released after the meeting.

In attendance were the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.); Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Isa; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye; Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed; the President’s Special Adviser on Homeland Security, Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (retd.); Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu; and other senior security officials.

The meeting came two days after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, backed by the Air Component of the Joint Task Force (North West), successfully thwarted what the military described as a coordinated large-scale terrorist offensive across parts of Zamfara and Katsina states.

Similarly, President Tinubu also received the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, on Thursday at the State House, Abuja.
